Abstract
The use of privileged information in insider trading in Malaysia is highly depressing, saddening and disappointing. It is because of the high percentage of insider trading in Malaysia compared to other offences. In organisations, poor corporate governance, corruption, injustice, and dishonesty happen when the use of privileged information in insider trading is increasing. The overlook of the significance of ethics on the use of privileged information in insider trading is dragging the whole organisation behind. A quantitative research study collects primary data via online survey questionnaires from 110 employees working in Malaysian public listed companies to satisfy the research questions and objectives. The findings exhibited that team cohesion, peers’ ethicality, interpersonal competitiveness, need for achievement, and team performance would promote the use of privileged information in insider trading. It provides insight into how to decrease the use of privileged information in insider trading in Malaysia. Practically, it delivers the awareness for Malaysian public listed companies to start fostering ethics internally.
