Abstract

Sustainable building technology is becoming increasingly significant as people place a greater emphasis on environmental conservation. As a result, one of the primary goals of this study is to investigate whether green building is implemented in Malaysia. therefore, this study will aim to determine the benefits of sustainable building. Besides that, this study intends to determine the strategies to promote the sustainable construction practice. Moreover, it also to determine the barriers faced to implement sustainable construction practice in Malaysian construction industry. The start of this study is the literature review, the literature review will provide a summary of various types of benefits of implement sustainable building, the strategies to promote, and barriers faced to implement sustainable construction practice in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey will be prepared, and also this study will use qualitative research will be conducted for this study. After the questionnaire prepared completely, then it will be distributed to the developers, consultants and contractor company in Malaysia. In order to achieve the objective, 104 responses had been obtained through online questionnaire survey. Therefore, the data collection will be analysed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), descriptive analysis was conducted to answer the research objectives. In brief, this research concluded that the current sustainable building implementation is higher than average to some extent; and the overall expected benefit does contribute a significant amount of construction players toward the implementation of sustainable construction practice, while there were some strategies to promote the implementation of sustainable construction practice, and the construction players faced several of barriers to implement sustainable construction practices. Ultimately, these finding could serve as reference for future development of sustainable building construction in Malaysia.
