Abstract
There are games that are educational but are not fun and there are games that are fun but not educational. I think that educational games that focus mainly on being educational and result in not being fun defeats the purpose of gamifying it in the first place. This project aims to design and develop a game, Atomic Factory which piques players’ interest in Chemistry while allowing the players to have fun. This is done by blending the Chemistry concepts into the game mechanics to expose the players to these concepts as they play. The game is about automating the process of bonding together different combinations of atoms to create specific compounds through production lines. Instead of memorizing facts, progressing in the game guides the players step by step in learning chemical bonds. This game does not require any prior knowledge regarding Chemistry to play. The final product of this project will be the game, it does not teach a lot as it is made to pique interest and passion of players in Chemistry.
