Polyurethane with a urethane linkage molecular structure is one of the most essential and widely applied polymers in chemical industry. Nowadays, the use of renewable resources had become the first concern of the community to replace the petroleum based resources. Hence, the purpose of this study was to review the latest research about castor oil based polyurethane. This project also study the modification that can be done on castor oil based polyurethane for enhanced properties. Bio-based polyurethane are widely applied in many field such as adhesives, coatings, bio-composites, wood composites and combine with nanoparticles. After reviewing work that had done by other researchers, this project also included some suggestion and combined modification that can be done on certain research for further studied in order to improve the properties of castor oil based polyurethane
