Abstract

Prevalence of obesity is getting common especially in the population of adults due to a busy lifestyle where health status is often ignored. Hence, the practice of chrononutrition diet with timing of meals and its association with body mass index was studied.The objectives in this review are; determine the mechanisms of the chrononutrition diet, predict the changes in BMI caused by eating behavior and identify the effect of a chrononutrition diet in weight maintenance. This review utilized a methodology with five steps: (1) identifying research questions, (2) identifying relevant studies, (3) eligible study selection, (4) charting data and (5) collating, summarizing, and reporting results. Out of the 70 titles and abstract screened, 11 studies were finalized and included in this review. In these finalized studies, a majority of studies are cross-sectional studies that showed positive association between chrononutrition diet with reduction in body mass index. These studies demonstrate a profound focus on the importance of choronutrition in regulation of metabolism, body weight control and calorie intake. The participants involved in studies are adults with age of 20 above with normal healthy weight and overweight or obesity problems. In a nutshell, the chrononutrition diet explained that timing of meals with the type of diet consumed can cause a significant effect on body mass index
