Abstract

Urbanization process has been a hot topic in social science and construction industry. In urban cities, there is a term called “Urban Green Space” which defines as an open space covered by vegetation design and facilities that provides a platform for the public to have physical activities. However, the previous research stated that there is a significant need to investigate the satisfaction of the public with the urban green spaces to enhance the management of the urban green spaces. Here is how the research topic and objectives to be decided. The previous research has given a rough idea on what items to be included in three research objectives. The activities carried out in urban green spaces include the most appeared in previous research, which is sports and leisure activities. In this research, more items are added up to improve the accuracy of the findings. The items for benefits and satisfactions in this research are refer to previous study. Both of the research objectives generate effective outcome to solve the problem statement. This study implements quantitative research method to analyze the data collected using survey questionnaire method. The results discuss the frequency distribution of the respondents and the relationship between the research objectives and other factors such as gender and age range. The findings show that the fitness and health activities is the most selected activities carried out in urban green spaces. Moreover, most respondents agree with the benefit that improves physical activity and health of the public. The results of most important research objective show that the public is most satisfied with the field and open spaces in urban green spaces while the high quality services need to be improved as it has the lowest satisfaction. The findings can be applied on the planning and management of urban green spaces in the future to provide better environment for the public. It is significant to say that this study can be used for developing urban green spaces project in residential, commercial or mixed development aspects.
