Abstract

The Covid-19 epidemic is causing broad global disruption, prompting lockdowns in a number of nations, including Malaysia, in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. The Malaysian government has proposed the Movement Control Order (MCO) as one of the lockdown options, which will take effect on March 18, 2020. As a result, the MCO has had a significant impact on Malaysia's sectors, particularly the building industry. Hence, in order to effectively deliver projects, time and money become critical factors, and in the current environment, the majority of ongoing projects are failing to meet their deadlines and budgets. Thus, the purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on construction contracts and the construction industry in Kuala Lumpur, as well as the strategies that can mitigate COVID-19's negative effects on project success. This result is critical for the government to ensure that they are aware of the MCO's effects on the construction industry and to assist construction participants in overcoming the impacts described in this study.
