Abstract

As Malaysia's economy expands, the demand for construction rises sharply to meet the growing needs of commercial, housing, industrial, medical, and educational applications. However, the adoption rate of IoT applications for facility management in Malaysia is still considered as low. Therefore, it's crucial to have a better understanding of the challenges with IoT adoption in Malaysia. In addition, this paper describes IoT applications that are applicable to the construction sector. The purpose of the research is to identify how IoT technologies like BIM, AR, VR, RFID, and drones may help project stakeholders in Facility Management. This research will describe the IoT technology have a big significant contribution to the construction project by improving Facility Management efficiency. Furthermore, the advantages of deploying IoT for Facility Management in construction projects are discussed in this paper. Moreover, secondary data such as journals and articles are used to discover the difficulties, uses, and benefits of implementing IoT technology. Besides that, the questionnaire has been sent out to professional in construction industry to collect their perspective on the IoT application for FM during the Covid-19. The frequency analysis, central tendency with ranking and Kruskal Wallis test are utilized to analyse the data gathered from questionnaire survey. The finding from data analysis, limits of the research and recommendations for further studies are discussed in the paper.
