Abstract

Recently, the children’s security is always the parent’s main concern, it is because there are many children kidnapping cases nowadays, however, many parents have to send their children to school by school bus due to their busy working lives which makes them to worry and feel unsafe when their children are not by their side. This system, Secure Smart School Bus System – School Bus Schedule and Management, which will be integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, it is aimed to resolve the issues by providing a web application for bus administrators and mobile application for bus drivers and parents. Through the system, the parents and bus administrators can view the bus location in real time and able to monitor the children’s boarding status whenever they are on the way to school or on the way back home. Furthermore, it is mainly focus on schedule and management part which highly assist the bus administrator in performing a series of management process by using the system to resolve the troublesome tasks. Additionally, the bus driver can apply for leave, feedback the bus status instantly, view pickup list and addresses through the mobile application. The target users of the system will include parents, children, driver, and bus administrators. In School Bus Schedule and Management, there are total of 9 modules, and a total of 27 sub-modules. The project development will apply waterfall model as the software process model. Furthermore, the fact gathering techniques will adopt the interview and online research to clarify the uncertainty and doubt. In order to analyze the requirement, the use case diagram and the system requirement specification will be used. To understand the overall structure and workflow of the system, there are several diagrams applied such as activity diagram, ERD diagram, class diagram, and UI design. After the system development is done, the system testing has been conducted to ensure the quality and availability of the system. For the system testing, the module testing has been chosen and carried out to examine each of the modules and its submodules. In order to organize the module testing properly, the testing sequence has been listed out in the test plan. Finally, the system was developed successfully which able to fulfill all the user and system requirements that were collected during requirement analysis stage. Also, it managed to assist bus administrator to reduce the workload by transforming the necessary processing into computerized way which improve the process of school bus system efficiently and improve the security safety of the children. However, the system does have some weaknesses. To use the system, the devices must connect to the internet, otherwise, the system is not workable. Hence, there are improvements can be made to further enhance the system
