Abstract
In this current generation, films have become one of the major mainstream media in society. However, the film industry has had the issues of stereotyping in the gender roles representation since the 1900s and still occuring in present. Therefore, the research aims to study and discuss the factors of representation of gender stereotypes in films and the strategies to hinder the gender stereotype issues in films. Qualitative research is used for this study, in-depth interviews will be conducted with 3 Malaysian experts who have been working in the media and film industry for more than 10 years. As a result, it is reported that the factors of gender representation of gender stereotypes in films are due to the upbringing of traditional culture and behavior from the families or society that influence the mindset of individuals who live around these environments; and the strategies to resolve the gender stereotype issues in films is to cast more women in different roles and played as protagonists in films. From the perspective of these experts, the main solution is to create stories thinking out of the stereotypes. Thus, several recommendations were also suggested by the researcher to help curb this issue as well
