Abstract

In this paper, a novel RFID tag design is proposed that iterates on existing folded patch antenna designs. Through the combination of a multi-layered folded patch structure as well as a highly efficient radiating patch design, a design with high radiation efficiency and read range is presented with reasonably small size. Prototyping and verification of results is done in CST Microwave Studio simulator, where modeling, simulation and post-processing are all handled by the built-in functions. Multiple prototype designs are reviewed with their performance indicators (input impedance, radiation efficiency) constrasted to explain to reasoning behind each design decision. The final proposed design is then evaluated based on additional parameters such as
