Abstract

In this paper, the main focus is the finding of a suitable design for building a UPS system in MATLAB Simulink. There are few types of UPS which are Online UPS, Offline UPS and Line interactive UPS.UPS is being use as a backup battery. The design for it is only the basic due the design of UPS on the market is confidential. There are few necessary circuit needed in order to build a UPS. The necessary circuit included the rectifier circuit, inverter circuit and also some simple switch. For each circuit, there are few methods to build the UPS. The method for building it will be shown and a comparison is being makes in this paper. After the comparison is being made, the more suitable method to build each circuit will be chosen. As for each suitable circuit for rectifier and inverter has been chosen, it will be combine together with a battery source in between. It will become the simple UPS circuit. For offline UPS, it consist of breaker to switch the power being feed from power supply to battery source. The breaker is being controlled based on the condition of the voltage being supply. But in this it will be based on the state of charge of another battery. All the simulation is being done in MATLAB Simulink and is being analyze. With this paper, it could help and give a better understanding of building a simple UPS system.
