Map navigation system is widely used in daily life. The usage of map navigation system rely on the Global Positioning System (GPS). GPS is a satellite-based navigation system that allows user to know their exact location on the Earth. GPS is use in many different area. It was used in aircraft tracking to locate the aircraft in the event of accident. Besides, it also used for animals tracking in ecology field. The project is proposed to develop an android-based directory guide app with the aids of GPS. It is developed to guide users in a specify area of location. In this project, TARUC is set as the target location which the map will show the location of TARUC. User have to download the app and use the app via internet connection. Once connected to the app, the app will request permission to access the location data of the mobile device. Once access is granted, the map will be loaded and user’s current location is obtained via GPS. Then, users can view the building in TARUC through marker indicate in the map. Users can select desired destination from current location and draw a route between them. The GPS will always keep track of the current location of the user and when user move, GPS will point the direction where the user is moving to. The app is particularly useful for new student or visitor during new semester and visitors during TARUC open day.
