Abstract

Purpose - The objectives of this paper is to investigate the impact of oil prices on Malaysia economic growth for the period of 1986 to 2022. Methods and Approach – The Long-run and short-run effect of the variables is tested by using the Autoregressive Distributed Lags methods. Findings - In this study, the result has shown that all the variables including crude oil price, labour force, gross fixed capital formation and exchange rate has a positive effect on Malaysia economic growth. Practical implication – The outcome of this study has shown the effect of the crude oil price on Malaysia economic growth. Hence it will help the policy maker to have a clearer picture on the effect of crude oil price on Malaysia economic growth.
