Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 4 weeks of proprioception training towards shooting percentage of dynamic 3 points shot among TARUC basketball players. 24 male subjects of age average 22.21 years old with average 10.21 years of basketball experience participated in this study. All subjects were having the pretest for self confidence survey form and the dynamic 60-second 3-point shooting test. After the pretest, 12 subjects from the control group and another 12 subjects from the intervention group, go through the posttest with the same self confidence survey form and the dynamic 60-second 3-point shooting test, to get the final results of this study. The duration of the training programme for the intervention group was 4 weeks, 3 days per week. The control group had no intervention throughout the study only attending for the pretest and posttest. Other than that, subjects, demographic data such as age, height, weight, and years of basketball experience were collected. The results showed that the intervention group had significantly greater self-confidence than the control group, z = [-0.464], p = [.643]. A statistically significant increase of 17.69% of dynamic 3-points shot for the intervention group. And there was a strong, positive correlation between Pre-confidence level with pre-test (r=.633) percentage of successful shots, which was statistically significant (n = 24, p = .001). Overall, the results suggest that integrating proprioception training to enhance self-confidence can be an effective strategy to improve dynamic 3-point shot percentage, thus highlighting the potential benefits of this training approach for basketball players seeking to optimize their shooting abilities.
