Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of 6 weeks resistance band balance training and bodyweight balance training on dynamic balance among collegiate taekwondo athletes. A total of 20 subjects (Age = 20.45 ± 1.36 years old; Weight = 66.53 ± 13.55 kg and Height = 172.38 ± 4.60 cm) participated in this study. The subjects were divided into two experimental groups (resistance band balance training group N=10, bodyweight balance training group N=10). The training invention of both experimental groups consisted of 2 days per week training for a total of 6 weeks balance training programme. The subjects were tested by using modified SEBT (anterior: r= .983; posteromedial: r= .981; posterolateral: .993). The analysis data showed that there was a significant difference between two experimental groups in dynamic balance. The finding of the study showed evidence that 6-week of resistance band balance training improves the most in dynamic balance tests in co-curriculum taekwondo players.
