Abstract
To examine the relationship between physical activity and academic stress on mental well-being of students in TARUMT. This current study utilized a quantitative research approach for data collection. A total of 96 college athletes (173 Males and 205 Females; mean age = 21.721; SD = 1) from Tunku Abdul Rahman University Management & Technology, KL Main Campus participated in this research. Participants completed surveys of Demographic data, 7 item - International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short form (IPAQ-SF) (r = .56)., 18 item - Perception of Academic Stress Scale (PAS) (r = . 70)., and 14 item- Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) (r = .56). Additional demographic data collected were Level of study, Type of Physical Activity, Current CGPA, Living arrangement and Monthly allowance. Mean differences in physical activity level for male (3072.55 ± 2166.06, n= 173) and female (2574.79 ± 1782.09, n= 205). Mean differences in mental well-being for male (50.06± 9.98, n= 173) and female (46.64 ± 8.67, n= 205). Mean differences of academic stress for male (57.49 ± 15.13, n= 173) and female (54.92 ± 11.47, n= 205). There was a reported positive correlation between mental well-being and academic stress. There was a reported positive correlation between mental well-being and physical activity. Keywords: Mental well-being, physical activity, academic stress, physical activity level.
