Abstract

The purpose of implementing this TARUMT Student Chat Application is to help students that face problems such as third party chat applications and also physical face-to-face communication. These problems need to be solved because it can help the students to carry out their communication in their study life such as discussing tutorials, assignments or final examinations. The TARUMT Student Chat Application project contributes to a solution that provides a real time chat application that is specifically designed for the TARUMT students. Thus they no need to worry about the problems such as personal and private information exposed or no space to carry out communication due to physical face-to-face communication. The modules that are involved in this TARUMT Student Chat Application are security module, profile maintenance module, chat room module, chat module, and also contact list module. The chat module is the core and main module of this TARUMT Student Chat Application. The key researches and features are video recording and send over, voice recording and send over, webcam integration, location sharing, editable images, image gallery, user account and also syntax highlighting, The methodology that I used in this TARUMR Student Chat Application project is the waterfall model. The waterfall model allows the application to develop linearly and the progression is from start to end. The testing approaches that have been carried out in the project are divided into three sections, that is unit testing, integration testing and also user acceptance testing. All the resing results and the test cases are recorded in the table. The strength of this TARUMT Student Chat Application is the involvement of the WebRTC (Web Real Time Communication) technology. The WebRTC technology have enhanced the TARUMT Student Chat Application by adding the features such as video recording before sending over, voice recording before sending over, webcam integration, voice recognition, etc. The weakness of this application might be the user interface that has the minimalist design. This might not be so attractive for some TARUMT students.
