Abstract

AR may be a new trend as it starts to venture into ecommerce and retail, particularly when it comes to ecommerce. As the growth and trends are growing year by year, it's undeniable that online purchases from ecommerce websites still need more contextual information and that can be a barrier to selling certain products online. Therefore, creators are now implementing AR apps to allow shoppers to customize their products and place them literally anywhere. For example, a customized sofa can be placed in true-to-scale 3D models in living rooms. Therefore, the objective of this project is to scale and enhance the existing AR ecommerce solution which also includes providing a more convenient, secure and smooth environment for all users. The selected methodology for this project will be the Unified Software Development Process (USDP) or Unified Process (UP) which describes key concepts, core workflows and overall management required for the development of generic software development processes. There are 4 main UP phases which include inception, elaboration, construction and transition. In the inception phase, we will conduct meetings with stakeholders, questionnaires and surveys to establish the objectives and discuss on collecting requirements that are crucial for the project. In addition, feasibility study is also conducted as it is a crucial part of the inception phase. The elaboration phase refines and expands the preliminary use cases developed as part of the inception phase and the development of conceptual diagrams such as use case diagrams, class diagrams and package diagrams. The construction phase develops the requirements and models and all other necessary and required features and functions for the software increments are then implemented into the source code. The UML diagrams used include collaboration, state, activity and sequence diagrams. The concluding phase is the transition phase where the system is being deployed to the users. Activities such as system testing, testing under different environments and evaluating system criteria and requirements are conducted here.
