Abstract
In this technology era, most higher education institutions have transformed their campus experience with personalized mobile applications. However, we found that mobile apps such as TARCApp have limited features for students and academic staff to keep in touch. They always use Whatsapp or email for communication but it will not be the best choice for them. It is because the academic staff might overlook the student’s message due to a large number of students. Students, especially introverted and shy students, found it difficult to ask questions, book consultation hours, and provide feedback for the course. Therefore, Bright Minds which provides course management functionalities is introduced to make it easier for students to ask questions in the anonymous space, book consultation hours without waiting for academic staff response and provide feedback or suggestions or even complaints about the course. The course management application consists of 3 main modules which are the discussion module, booking module, and evaluation module. All the modules have their functionality which can be used by the student, academic staff and admin. To develop the application, we first identify the problem and conduct a background study. Then, we start to design and develop by following the Rapid Application Development (RAD) process model. The application is developed using Kotlin programming language and the Firebase database. It also utilized Firebase Machine Learning for developing the image search function. After implementing the application, the testing will be conducted following the test case and fulfilling the test completion criteria before exiting the testing. As a result, the high-quality course management application will be developed within the time frame. The application fulfills all the requirements and achieves the project objectives that benefit all the parties in higher education institutions.
