Abstract

The Smart Dustbin is designed for improving hygiene and ensuring regular waste disposal, resulting in a cleaner and safer living environment for both families and the general public. Equipped with an ultrasonic sensor, the dustbin's lid opens automatically when it detects the presence of waste, preventing physical contact and limiting the spread of germs and diseases. After 5 seconds of inactivity, the lid automatically closes. Furthermore, when the Smart Dustbin is full and needs to be emptied, it can send notifications to the user's app via WIFI, eliminating the need for manual monitoring. An LCD display is included to aid the automation system. The software used to design this system were TinkerCad, Arduino IDE, Wokwi and draw.io. In addition to being perfect for homes, the Smart Dustbin is also great for public places like supermarkets, shopping centers, educational institutions, and airports. Because of its advanced features, it is an efficient and effective option for these high-traffic areas, providing a dependable and sanitary waste disposal system. Overall, the Smart Dustbin is a game-changing solution that may play an important role in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
