Abstract

This study examines the influence of transformational leadership, CSR, and stakeholder engagement on economic sustainability of corporation in Klang valley and Sabah: The mediating role of firm financial performance. The research employed the quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design and online survey method for data collection. A total sample of 200 was collected from employees who are currently working in Klang Valley and Sabah and the data collected were analysed using the SPSS and SmartPLS software. The findings revealed significant positive relationships between CSR, stakeholder engagement and economic sustainability, as well as in the relationship between firm financial performance and economic sustainability. It was revealed that, transformational leadership has insignificant relationship with economic sustainability. As for the mediating hypotheses, firm financial performance partially mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and economic sustainability, as well as stakeholder engagement and economic sustainability. It was revealed that, firm financial performance does not mediate the relationship between CSR and economic sustainability. This study makes several contributions by adding to the existing literature. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of transformational leadership, CSR, stakeholder engagement, and firm financial performance on economic sustainability. The study's findings contribute to the understanding of the relationships between these variables and offer insights for future research in this area. The study contributes to the understanding of the interrelationships between transformational leadership, CSR, stakeholder engagement, and economic sustainability in the Malaysian context.
