Abstract

Nowadays, many corporate scandals and fraud emerged and whistleblowing have been a buzzword in the media. Many organisations encouraged their employees to have awareness on the non-compliance in order to tackle the misconducts of the organisation and avoid the issues escalating to another level. Therefore, the study aims to understand the role of company secretaries in respect of their perceived behavioural controls, attitudes, subjective norms and independence commitment with the organisation support towards their whistleblowing intention. In view of this, it can help to have a better understanding on the whistleblowing intention of the key officer in an organisation. Quantitative and cross-sectional study method are adopted to achieve the objectives of this project paper. A sample size of 254 is collected via online questionnaire as primary data from individuals who work as company secretaries in Malaysia. All the collected data were analysed by using SPSS version 27.0 and SmartPLS 4.0 software. The data findings have shown that there is positive relationship between perceived behavioural controls, attitudes, subjective norms, independence commitment and whistleblowing intention with the moderating effect of organisational support. The findings of this study help to understand the whistleblowing intention of the key officer in an organisation and what elements needed for a company secretary to enhance his or her whistleblowing intention.
