Abstract
This study undertakes a thorough comparative analysis of the time extension clauses in standard forms of Malaysian construction contracts, with a particular focus on contracts issued by the Public Works Department Malaysia (JKR) and the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM). This study intends to be specified in terms to explore the reasons for the need for extensions of time, to analyse the impact of delays and extensions of time, and To propose recommendations or suggestions for improving the current extension of time provisions in standard forms of local construction contracts in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey is an approach used for primary data collection. The data was collected and analysed with the aid of SPSS software and Microsoft Excel. The descriptive statistical method, frequency distribution method and RII showed the results of the overall ranking regarding to the 3 objectives stated above with the data collected from questionnaire survey.
