Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between corporate governance practices and firm performance of plantation companies listed in Bursa Malaysia Berhad. By utilizing agency theory, this study employs a mixed-method approach that involves quantitative analysis with multiple regression analysis through SPSS software and qualitative analysis through semi-structured interviews with internal auditors from plantation companies listed in Bursa Malaysia. This study examines the relationship between return on equity (ROE) and various corporate governance practices, such as gender diversity, independent non-executive directors, audit committee size, and board meeting frequency. The findings indicate that there is a relationship between gender diversity and the firm performance of plantation companies listed in Bursa Malaysia.
