Abstract

A Human Following Robot is an automatic robot that track and follows a designated human target while navigating complex environments and avoid obstacles. This project is to design a stable human tracking method with suitable sensor to follow human in movement and perform well in motion. Moreover, this project focuses on designing and develop the robot using an Arduino microcontroller, ultrasonic sensor, and bluetooth communication with the assist of Solidworks and other software application. The method’s effectiveness that has been carried out is tested by controlling the direction and function of the robot to any destination require, demonstrating the motion of a mecanum wheel mobile robot, the function of human following mode and the ability to avoid obstacle. The results show that the robot will keep within a safety distance between the human and the robot with no collision and follows the human with stable condition. As a conclusion, the purposed method has been successfully demonstrated and the objectives are achieve. The limitation of this project is the developed solution had been carry out in the experiments and demonstration. The current prototype is a small-scale mobile robot, and tests were conducted to see if the robot could follow a human’s palm .Future studies and research can focus on the hardware implementation, if funding is available, future research may look at creating a larger mobile robot that can track humans while they walk or run in a longer series of field tests.
