Abstract

The web-based property rent system is to provide an efficient and user-friendly platform for the users such as tenants and the advertisers(landlord) to carry out the rental operations. The existing system is still using the traditional way which the users need to find the properties manually and it is time-consuming for both tenants and advertisers(landlord). This system provides a centralized platform for the tenants to find their desired property quickly and allows the advertiser(landlord) to handle their posted property listings efficiently. The scope of this property rent system will cover a real time one-to-one chat module, advertiser module which includes all the necessary rental operations, notification module which allows to notify both the tenants and advertisers(landlord) on rental operation status, and a reporting module which allows the advertiser(landlord) to generate report for data-driven decision. The methodology used for this project is the Waterfall model as the SDLC(Software Development Life Cycle) model, the main requirement gathering technique is interview, and all the softwares and tools used are mostly free or open source. Several diagrams such as ERD, state chart diagram, activity diagram and many more were illustrated to better understand the overall structure and workflow of the project. After the completion of the development phase, comprehensive system testing such as module testing is conducted to ensure the system meets all the requirements. The system is not perfect as it does have several limitations such as cannot share files in chat and no real time search with specific categories but improvements have been proposed to further enhance the system in future.
