Abstract

This study aimed to investigate preschool teachers' perceptions regarding the integration of digital technology in early childhood education within the context of Kuala Lumpur. Participants engaged in interviews focused on their views regarding the use of digital tools and the role of technology in preschool education. Employing a qualitative research design, the study utilised purposive sampling to select six participants, comprising two principals and four preschool teachers from Kuala Lumpur. The objectives of the research were twofold: first, to explore preschool teachers' perspectives on the utilisation of digital technology in early childhood settings in Kuala Lumpur, and second, to examine the role of digital technology in preschool education within the same locale. The study findings encompassed various perspectives, including observations of children's enjoyment of their lessons, the enhancement of children's learning experiences through technology, and the integration of technology into lesson planning. Furthermore, the roles of technology identified within the classroom context included its vital role in education, its potential to enhance teaching and learning processes, its utilisation as an additional instructional material, its effectiveness in facilitating learning through videos, its capacity to increase student participation, and its suitability as a platform for digital storybooks. These findings collectively provide valuable insights into the perceptions and practices surrounding the integration of digital technology in preschool education in Kuala Lumpur
