Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate sleep quality, difference in napping behavior and psychological well-being between athletes and non-athletes. A total of 250 respondents (100 athletes and 150 non-athletes) between the ages of 18-25 years old voluntarily participated in this study in Kuala Lumpur. Each participant completed 3 sets of questionnaires which included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire (PSQI), Short Napping Behavior Scaler, (SNBS) and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire (PWB). The same variables were collected from both athletes and non-athletes using online forms and through physical. For athletes, individuals with a minimum of 3 years of experience in competitions are accepted for this research. For non athletes category, only participants with moderate to high physical activity level are accepted for the research. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS version 26. The findings indicated that there is a statistically significant difference exist in sleep quality between athletes and non-athletes. There is also a statistically significant difference exist in napping behavior between athletes and non-athletes
