Abstract
This paper explores the dynamic landscape of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, with a focus on its significance, regulatory pressures, and industry practices, particularly in Malaysia. It examines the case of Perniagaan Rakan Tiga (PRT), a local traditional pastry industry, as it integrates ESG considerations into its operations. The objectives of the ESG report development project for PRT are to enhance transparency, ensure accountability, and engage stakeholders while complying with regulatory requirements. Leveraging the Sustainability Disclosure Guidelines and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board Standards, the project aims to achieve comprehensive and industry-specific disclosures. This paper presents a holistic ESG report development project aimed at fostering transparency, accountability, and value creation within an organisation. The project prioritizes providing stakeholders with clear insights into the company’s ESG performance while adhering to regulatory mandates and industry norms. It emphasizes stakeholder engagement to address ESG-related interests and concerns, thereby building trust and credibility. Additionally, the project seeks to identify and assess ESG-related risks and opportunities to strengthen effective risk management and long-term sustainability. By demonstrating how ESG initiatives contribute to value creation, such as through improved operational efficiency and enhanced brand reputation, the project aims to facilitate enduring sustainable growth. The paper outlines the objectives, methodologies, and outcomes of the project, underscoring the significance of ESG reporting for both the company and its stakeholders. It emphasizes the role of ESG reporting in promoting responsible business practices and driving sustainable development, highlighting its importance in meeting stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements
