Abstract

This project describes the development of an electricity meter with integrated circuit to display household monthly electricity usage. It is different compared to the traditional meter. This project also tries to record down the power usage of consumer daily to the supplier database for monitoring purpose. The values of power usage will using voltage transformer and current transformer to step down for microcontroller to calculate to actual value of power usage. Power factor of power usage will measure using voltage transformer and current transformer also to measure the phase angle between voltage and current. In this project the data will send to computer and the role of the computer is like the database of the supplier for the data analysis purpose also. Besides that, this project also tries alert to customer while the power factor of their household is below certain rate. With this feature, consumer may know their daily power factor status from the database and make some proper action to solve this situation. At the same time, the equipment of power supplier can stand more longer.
