Abstract

The Fear Within is a 3D Action Role Playing Game that I intend to make the understand the concept and usage of behaviors trees to simulate animal behaviour and creating engaging gameplay with the usage of RPG elements and skill trees. This project will contribute to the understanding further of how behaviour trees can help with complex behaviour, and also understand and learn how to create different kinds of combat elements to create fun gameplay. The scope and focus of the project will cover mostly of combat mechanics with different skill mechanics and creating complex enemy behaviour with the help of behaviour trees. Also having decent level design so that the RPG aspect of the game can run smoothly for the player. There should also be NPCs can be communicated with. The methodology used in the project involves the usage of assets obtained through the unity asset store and other relevant sites, while also needing a behaviour tree plugin to help with setting up the behaviour for different enemies in the game. Google Forms are also used to help better collect feedback from testing sessions to measure the bugs encountered or improvements required, or other relevant feedback of the game. The Testing criteria involves requiring the game to run on a consistent 60 fps frame rate, while also trying avoid the creation of bugs as much as possible using the feedback collection from testing. Testing would require the user to have a Laptop or PC around for the game, since this game will be primarily only focused on PC devices
