Abstract

The Final Year Project Management System (FYPMS) represents a comprehensive solution designed to tackle the challenges identified within the domain of FYP process management of TAR UMT. Currently, TAR UMT adopts its coordination and allocation tasks manually which is considered to be extremely inefficient, time consuming, and prone towards human error. The developed system is to ensure that the system functionalities are able to automate most of the manual tasks in the FYP management process. The FYP Management System compromises of the following modules which are: User Management, Pairing, Schedule and Appointment, as well as Documentation and Assessment. In terms of its functionalities, some of the notable ones are student and staff management, pairing creation of supervisor to student, workload tracking, cloud-based storage solution using Google Drive, appointment making with Google Calendar, form templates and rubrics management, and student assessment. In terms of methodology, the project is developed based on the SDLC principles and the use of Visual Studio Code with GitHub is utilized to ensure a seamless development progress. Furthermore, technologies like Django with PostgreSQL are utilized along with Google API will be used in the development stage. The system is adopting incremental approach as the process model because it allows for the gradual development and delivery on the completion of functionality, enabling a better structured picture at each iteration to facilitate any feedbacks or adaptation towards requirements modification. All the modules have its own scope to achieve where user management organizes and secures personnel information efficiently. Pairing facilitates the collaboration and connection between students and supervisors. Schedule and Appointment manages schedule timeline and online appointment. Documentation and Assessment tracks and evaluates any documentation templates and assessments. In general, FYP Management System will serve as a computerized solution which is able to reduce the number of resources take to complete all the required tasks in the FYP management process from head to tail
