Abstract

Wave Modelling in an open channel flow is a study done based on water wave theory. It consists of utilizing Navier-Stokes Equations in CFD to allow the computation and simulation of the wave produced during merging of four waves from different direction. Based on that the wave produced can be simulated by using ANSYS, a computational fluid dynamic program (CFD) and the results could be obtained and analyzed. The method used would be the numerical analysis using ANSYS would be performed. The results obtained would also be based from the software where the flow movement of the waves is obtained and the velocity contours and the pressure on the channel. This drawing of channels would be drawn through Solidworks with the design criteria obtained through the safety factor of the terminal velocity of water slides and its gradient in which is standardize by theme parks and manufacturers. Then the simulation done would use a value in which the maximum velocity which is safe on an open channel which would be simulated under the k-omega model and the first order airy wave model and from there, the results are then analyzed using ANSYS. The results obtained would be three singular channels simulated individually and one result where the channels are merged to a singular merge point and analysed.
