Abstract

The "MyAirInsight Air Pollution Monitoring System" project aims to address the escalating problem of air pollution, which poses significant health risks and environmental degradation. Air pollution from industrial emissions and agricultural activities releases harmful pollutants, creates smog and has adverse effects on human health. Despite the severity of the problem, the public lacks common tools for real-time air quality monitoring, leading to hindering public ability to understand the air quality around them and take preventive measures. The project aims to provide a comprehensive solution by developing a mobile application that provides real-time indoor and outdoor air quality data. This project will use an IoT-based air quality collector to collect indoor air data and an online API to obtain outdoor air quality data. The app’s features include personalized health rate and exposure tracking, allowing users to monitor their surroundings and make informed decisions about air quality. The methodology adopted for this project follows the Waterfall development model. The tools and techniques used include Android Studio for mobile app development, Firebase for database management, and IoT sensors for indoor data collection. Testing criteria for the project encompass functionality, usability, performance, and integration testing to ensure a high-quality and reliable system. Overall, this project aims to enhance public awareness and proactive measures against air pollution, contributing to improved health and environmental quality by providing an easy-to-use air quality monitoring tool.
