Abstract

The TARUMT Student Marketplace project addresses significant issues faced by students at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TARUMT) related to buying and selling within the campus community. Currently, students predominantly use informal platforms like social media or word-of-mouth, which are inefficient, time-consuming, and pose various security and privacy risks. This project introduces a dedicated, secure, and user-friendly online platform specifically tailored for the TARUMT student community. It includes features such as streamlined user registration, advanced product listing capabilities, and an intuitive search functionality enhanced by AI-driven recommendations and auto-suggestions based on recent user activities. The marketplace encourages face-to-face transactions within campus boundaries, significantly enhancing convenience and safety. The methodology employed combines robust technologies including ASP.NET Core MVC for backend development, PostgreSQL for reliable database management, and SignalR for real-time communication. Security features such as secure password hashing, role-based access control, and secure payment integrations via Stripe have been rigorously implemented and tested. Extensive unit, integration, and user acceptance testing methodologies were adopted, ensuring robust functionality and a positive user experience. The project's comprehensive testing confirmed the effective integration of all system modules, including user management, product management, real-time chat functionalities, and AI chatbot assistance. Minor issues encountered during testing phases were promptly addressed, resulting in a stable, secure, and highly scalable marketplace ready for deployment. Ultimately, the TARUMT Student Marketplace project successfully delivers a sustainable and scalable solution, significantly improving transaction efficiency, security, user personalization, and fostering a more connected and resourceful student community.
