Abstract

Conventional irrigation systems often rely on manual or timed operations without considering the actual water needs of crops, leading to overwatering or underwatering. This results in potential harm on crop health and jeopardizing crop productivity. This project addresses the water management issue by designing a smart irrigation system that integrates Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor-based automation to optimize irrigation. The proposed irrigation system utilizes a control unit that collects data from soil moisture, temperature and relative humidity sensors, to continuously monitor environmental conditions. The control unit uses the environmental data to automate irrigation by activating a solenoid valve and enable cooling using a fan. The system features a remote user interface via a mobile application to enable remote monitoring of real-time and historical environmental conditions, including soil moisture, surrounding temperature and relative humidity
