Abstract

This project focuses on the design and implementation of a Real-Time Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Monitoring system for Awning Applications. The idea originates from the growing need to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact caused by heavy use of air conditioning, as well as the inconvenience and safety issues of traditional manual awnings. Conventional awnings require users to operate them manually which can be unsafe during rain or strong winds. To address these problems, the proposed system integrates sensors including a raindrop sensor, phototransistor and anemometer to detect weather conditions such as rainfall, sunlight intensity and wind speed. An Arduino microcontroller processes the sensor data and controls a geared DC motor to open or close the awning automatically. The LCD provide real-time weather information and system status, ensuring that users can easily monitor conditions. The development process involves selecting and calibrating sensors, designing the circuit, programming the controller and testing system performance. Results show that the system functions efficiently under different weather conditions, reducing risks of property damage and improving user safety. In conclusion, this project demonstrates that integrating sensors with LCD monitoring creates a reliable, energy-efficient, and user-friendly solution for awning applications.
