Abstract

The 2nd-Hand Items Trading Platform promotes responsible consumption and waste reduction, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Goal 12, specifically target 12.5, which is minimizing waste through recycling and reuse, and target 12.8, which is promoting sustainable lifestyles. This project’s purpose is to address the issue of excessive waste by offering a secure digital marketplace where users can conveniently buy, sell, and share second-hand items. The tools used will be Microsoft 365, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visual Studio Code for supporting Python and Oracle SQL Plus, and developed using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. The SDLC waterfall model is a structured process used to develop software efficiently, systematically, and with minimal risks. It provides a clear roadmap from idea to finished product, ensuring every step is planned, executed, tested, and improved. It features user management, product listing, buying and selling process, checkout and payment, reporting, and a smart locker system for secure transactions. Additionally, integrated customer feedback and content and notification features will enhance user experience. Before releasing the system, it must be tested to catch bugs, logic errors, or usability issues. We will proceed the testing one by one following these procedures, which are unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and security testing to ensure that the system meets all functional and non-functional requirements. The expected outcome is an eco-friendly, user-friendly, and secure platform for second-hand trading. This platform promotes sustainable consumption, reduces waste, and fosters a community-driven approach to resource sharing, ultimately contributing to a more circular economy.
