Abstract
Fruit spoilage has been a huge problem for both the consumers and farmers in recent years. Long transportations from farms all the way to consumers buying those fruits has caused many fruits to spoil since fruits are highly perishable foods. However, with the advancement of technology, we can now be able to detect fruits that had spoiled to separate them from the good ones before selling them to the consumers. Traditional quality monitoring methods, including physical inspection and laboratory testing are often destructive, time-consuming, and not efficient whatsoever. Hence, that is why I chose my final year project as “Portable Fruit Quality Monitoring and Detection System during transportation”. The goal of this project is to develop a portable device that can monitor factors that affect fruit degradation including pH levels, gas emission, moisture content and texture. This device uses multiple sensors of those respective factors that are being used and connected to a microcontroller which can undergo wireless data transmission through Wi-Fi and displayed on a phone. The data displayed on the phone can be used by farmers to monitor easily. Buzzers and LEDs are also being triggered continuously as an alert system when spoilt fruits are being detected.
