Abstract
In today’s supermarkets and shopping malls, the number of products available has increased greatly to meet customers demand. However, traditional shopping methods are still widely used, where customers are required to push heavy trolleys, search for items by themselves, and wait in long queues at the checkout counter. These processes can be time-consuming, tiring, and inefficient, especially during peak hours. To improve this bad experience, Internet of Things (IoT) technology can be used to make shopping more convenient and efficient. This project presents a smart shopping basket system developed using an ESP32 microcontroller, RFID technology, and a mobile application. The RFID reader automatically detects items placed in the basket, while an I2C LCD screen displays the item name, price, and total cost instantly. This helps to reduce the need for manual scanning at the cashier and shortens waiting time. In addition, the basket can be controlled using a mobile application, allowing users to move it to specific locations or return it easily. The system also includes motors that allow the basket to move automatically, reducing the physical effort required by the user. Overall, this project demonstrates how modern technology can be applied to improve the shopping experience, making it faster, easier, and more user-friendly. It also supports the goal of promoting innovation and smarter infrastructure in line with Sustainable Development Goal 9.
