Abstract
As the demand for spherical objects continues to rise, the occurrence of imperfections on spherical objects surface has increased. While players or sports facilities still rely on manual surface defect detection, the smallest and barely noticeable defects often lead to high failure detection rates due to the limitation of the human eyes. However, there are some manufacturing factories and industries have implemented systems to automate the defect detections. Despite having automated systems to conduct those detections, the systems will face challenges such as lighting and angle problems. This study aims to replace manual and inefficiency of the automated defect detection with an approach of a simple yet accurate spherical surface detection. Utilizing camera modules to detect the irregular areas and is displayed on a screen. The system uses data augmentation to increase diversity of the dataset to prevent overfitting and saves up more time. This machine provides automatic adjusting the angle of the object and cropping to the detected regions of the object. This machine is built to offer a cost effective, user-friendly, and efficient solution and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure,” promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation and technological development.
