Abstract
In the new era of technologies, smartphone is no longer uncommon things to everyone as most of the people own a smartphone. By having the smartphone, everyone able to contact each and other no matter where they are, as long as they own a smartphone, everyone is connected. Thus, mobile applications become something that everyone familiar with it. Everyone who own a smartphone will definitely have some applications downloaded inside their smartphone. Each and every mobile application provide different type of functions and features to the user. Therefore, we came out an idea to create a travel mobile application that not only provide the benefits to our client, but it also brings the benefits to the mobile user as well. Besides, we also created the mobile application with the intend to reduce the volume of printing the travel catalogue which it will save more paper. The application that we created actually works with two platform which is the back end and front end so that it will be more convenient and flexible for the client to maintain it. Software development methodology will be used. A software development methodology in software engineering is a framework that are commonly used to plan, structure, and control of the process of developing an information system. This is the process that all development of software must go through in order to ensure the outcome is matched with user desire and expectation. Eclipse and Windows Application both are the main programming tool used to develop the system. I started with the mobile application by using the Eclipse first then only focus on the Windows Application which is the back end part. It is my first time to use the Eclipse and to upload the xml file through the webhosting. I am not familiar with it but somehow after research through online and getting some help from supervisor, I manage to learn how to use it and how to solve the problem. Besides, procedures are also important because without following the steps, I might do it wrongly such as not getting the information from the client and design an application that does not suits my client. Strength of the project is that it achieves the user –friendly requirement to simplify the task of admin. By having all these additional features, it does not only allow the Langkawi Application compete with others competitor but also bring convenient to the customer. The weaknesses of the project is that due to the lack of knowledge for java, I realize the method I wrote the code was not really in a good way. As conclusion, there is a need to follow the step from one before we proceed to another step. Many phases have to be go through such as system planning phase, methodologies phase, requirement analysis phase, system phase, coding phase, testing phase and evaluation phase.
