Abstract

In this senior year project, 3 types of cloaking are designed and implemented. They are constructed by using back end mirrors, optical convex and concave lens and large area Fresnel lens. Four 20.0 cm × 25.0 cm back-surfaced mirrors are aligned perpendicularly edge-to-edge with each other. The cloaking volume is a triangular prism of 6250 cm3. Besides, two convex lenses with identical focal length fconvex = 35.0 mm and one concave lens with focal length fconcave = -75.0 mm are used in optical lens cloaking. The concave lens is placed in between of the two identical convex lenses. The whole region of the lens can be cloaked except the centre path (along the optical axis). The Fresnel lens used in Overhead Projector (OHP) and the wide angle rear windows Fresnel lens are used to perform cloaking. They have larger cloaking region compared with the optical lens cloaking system but have limited image quality due to the ‘groove’ surface of the Fresnel lens. Lastly, the OpticalRayTracer software is used to simulate the 3 cloaking systems implemented in this project.
