Abstract

Inno School Management System (Inno) is an information management system which will be used to manage a primary/secondary school’s information. It is aimed to replace the manual system into a computerized system which can improve the efficiency of the management procedures and reduce the workload of staffs. Inno School Management System (Inno) can perform all the basic school information management functions which are create, retrieve, update and delete records. Besides, it will provide more advanced features such as Student Smart Card. Each student will belong a smart card which can act as his/her student identity card, taking attendance and acts as a credit card. Students’ parents can purchase credit for their children who can be used to purchase items such as food, stationeries or books. The smart card interaction portal software has to be implemented in the school. There are two types of portal. One of them is to take attendance and another is to perform transaction which will act like Point of Sales software. Parents are able to keep track the credit usage using the intranet. Another feature is the merit system. It is to record the merit marks of each student to able staff to carry out disciplinary actions on it. The project scope includes a window-based system and an intranet. The window-based system will be implemented in the school while the intranet is for outsiders like parents to access to the school information. There are several mandatory components of an abstracts as follows:  Purpose The purpose of the system is to increase the efficiency of managing the school’s information. It can change the old way of manual information processing into computerized system. A computerized system can drastically improve the speed and easiness of using the system. It replaces the paper work which has to spend more time and effort if compared to using a computerized system. This associated beneficial to decrease the paper usage. The proposed system plan to emphasize students’ security by using the smart card credit. Students can avoid bringing along a lot of cash which can reduce the occurrence of robbing. The smart card credit is able to train students to have good money spending attitude. Parents can check their children smart card credit expenditures by logging into the school intranet. Parents can control their children money usage because they are the one who can purchase credit into their children smart card. The school intranet is responsible to let parents have closer connection to school. Parents are allowed to log in to the school intranet to use their authorized functions such as checking their kids’ results. Lastly, the fast and accurate system can increase the satisfaction of staff. Staffs’ workload will be decreased and less time will be spent to complete a task if compared to using the manual way.  Background information The school management office is targeted to be used by primary or secondary school. It is used to automate the process of managing school information. The records such as student records, teacher records, results, attendance and other information are very important for a school. Therefore, the proposed system is designed to organize the school date and ensure its validity at the same time.  Scope I discussed with my team member to find out the most useful, innovate and complete scope for our proposed system. We decided to do a multiple platform system which will combine computer-based and web-based. The scope were designed from the point of view of both platforms and the purpose of proposed system. We wanted our scope to be suitable to be used on each platform and really practical to be used in real life primary or secondary schools in Malaysia. The scope includes a total of 10 modules and I was assigned with 6 of them which are : i. Smart Card ii. Smart Card Authentication iii. Point of Sales Portal iv. Attendance v. Merit vi. Report  Methodology Inno School Management System is a big project and consists of a great number of modules to a group of two developers. Therefore, the selection of a methodology is important to make sure the development stage can go smoothly. We choose Scrum because of its benefit. Scrum enables changes on requirements.  Testing criteria used This project has gone through several testing and phase to make sure there is error free and bug free. Several testing such as unit test, integration test, system test to ensure everything working with good condition.  Results and Conclusion Overall, the result of the project is satisfied and able to fulfill what we have planned and imagined at the beginning.
