Abstract

This research aims to find out whether proposed additional features to be added into the college email system is really appropriate and suitable for college use. The prototype includes the proposed additional features which are Student-Lecturer Appointment feature, Official Application Letter Submission feature as well as the basic feature which is Receive Email feature. Various methods had also been used to help us understand more on the existing college email system such as research, literature review, observation and interview. The project includes prototype development, which is then used for the experiment to obtain results that is relevant to proving whether the proposed additional features are appropriate and suitable for college use. The prototype is developed using C# with ASP.NET as a web-based system with SQL database as the main database and MongoDB as supporting database. The designs of the proposed TARUC College Email System prototype are documented using UML diagrams such as use case diagram, activity diagram, sequence diagram, class diagram and entity relationship diagram. For the testing on the prototype developed, various types of testing had been carried out, which include Functionality Testing, System Behavior Testing, and UI Testing. The research is carried out by using a combination of experiment and questionnaire. The respondents were required to take an experiment by using the prototype developed and answered a questionnaire about their opinions on the proposed TARUC Email System. There is a total of 3 categories of respondents, which are, Academic Staff, Admin Staff and Learner, for different features of the system. The result of this research shows that the majority of the respondents agrees that the proposed features of TARUC College Email System are useful, appropriate and suitable for college use. The Student-Lecturer Appointment feature and Official Application Letter Submission feature is seen as able to help the user to improve their working efficiency hence saving their time.
