Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of this project is to help the kindergarten teacher have better innovation to teach the children in better way with flashcard and gamification. It also have the purpose of increase the children motivation of learning and help them to learn in better way. Of course, this project is also a partial requirement of Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons) of Software Engineering. Scope : In this project, it contains about the flashcard and revision game. For the flashcard, it can be divided into 4 parts which are Chinese Idioms, Chinese Vocabulary, English Vocabulary and Malay Vocabulary. The flashcard will display the image of the word and play the pronunciation of it except for the Chinese Idioms. For the revision game, it will be 4 parts also which is exactly same with the flashcard. For Chinese Idioms Game, it is a game that required user to re-arrange the idioms back to correct form. Meanwhile, the others games will display the images and ask the user to choose correct answer among the 4 answers. Methodology : The project is build using incremental model and it has been fully tested with almost error free. The strength of this system is it will allow the user to use it easily as it is very user friendly and reliable. The only weakness of this system is it has not yet fully covered all the words that exist in the dictionary and also the number of game available is quite limited. Development phases : During this project, we are having a lot phases to complete this project. In phase 1, we have design the UI for the system. After that, we have to extract the picture provided by the supervisor in spreadsheet. It took quite a long time to finish. In phase 2, we learnt about how to develop the game using Unity by search the teaching material online. So in this phase we have finish the flashcard system. In phases 3, the last phase, we have tried our best to think and develop some games for this system. As we do not have any knowledge on game development, we took some time also to figure it out and make the game workable. Assessment criteria used : The project assessment had gone through by testing on how well the overall system is functioning by using test plan to test on the flashcard and revision game. Results : The result of testing is satisfied and system is functioning as expected. Conclusions and Recommendations : This project has help me learn a lot on game developing and also how to use Unity Engine to develop a game. For the project, I recommended if possible, should have more games than current system.
