Abstract

The MWCNT of different dimension (long, short, thick and thin) was introduced into the polymer (PANI) to study its effect towards heavy metal removal application. PANI/HA, PANI/HA/TiO2 and PANI/HA/TiO2/MWCNTs nanocomposites were synthesized via template-free method. Characterization of PANI and its nanocomposites were done by using FTIR analysis and UV-Vis. The thermal stability and electrical conductivity of PANI and its nanocomposites were done by using TGA and resistivity meter respectively. The heavy metal removal application was done on Fe2+, Cu2+ and Pb2+. The results obtained shows the PANI nanocomposites have the highest removal percentage towards Cu2+ ions. PANI/HA/TiO2/MWCNT with MWCNT of 60-100nm diameter and 5-15nm of length exhibit the highest removal efficiency among all PANI/HA/TiO2/MWCNTs
