Abstract

This project investigates the application of Laplace transform in solving the electrical circuit problems. This report consists of six chapters. Chapter 1, we introduce the definition of the project title. Moreover, we also introduce the MATLAB which is the mathematics software will be used in the project to solve differential equation. In Section 2 of Chapter 1, the objectives and aims of this project are stated. In Chapter 2, which is literature review chapter, we will list out some of the books and journals which are useful and related to my project title such as circuit analysis with MATLAB, advanced engineering mathematics and so on. In Chapter 3, is the methodology chapter, where we will discuss the expression and technique that will be used in this project to achieve the goal of the project. In Section 1, 2 and 3, we present some techniques and properties that are all related to Laplace transform, which it is important and useful to the project. In Section 4, we will introduce the MATLAB commands that will be used to do calculation and solve differential equation in this project. In Chapter 4, we separated into 2 sections. In Section 1, we will discuss on how to solve differential equation by using Laplace transform. In Section 2, we will discuss the transfer function and some methods to determine the stability of the system. In Chapter 5, it will be our main result, which is mainly focus on the circuit analysis with Laplace transform. In this chapter, we will introduce some basic information about circuit. Furthermore, we demonstrate the use of Laplace transform in solving the differential equation describing circuits. There are few examples will be given to have a better understanding on how to solve the circuit’s equation by using Laplace transform. In Chapter 6, we will reveal the conclusion of the report and also our future work in this related field.
