Abstract
Stanley Kubrick has long been known as a fine craftsman when in come to film-making. The American widely acclaimed auteur director, producer and photographer of films has time and again proven he is vice to no one when dealing with his genre and style of films that include Spartacus (1960); nominated for 6 Oscars, Won 4: Best Supporting Actor, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing, Best Original Score; nominated for 6 Golden Globes, Won 1: Best Drama Picture, Best Drama Actor, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Supporting Actor; nominated for BAFTA Award: Best Film from Any Source, Barry Lyndon (1975); Nominated for 7 Oscars, Won 4: Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Original Song Score and/or Adaptation, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay; nominated for 2 Golden Globes: Best Director, Best Drama Picture; nominated for 5 BAFTA Awards, Won 2: Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Film, and of course the legendary 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968); nominated for 4 Oscars, Won 1 : Best Special Effects, Best Director, Best Art Direction, Best Original Screenplay; nominated for 4 BAFTA Awards, Won 3: Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Track, Best Film. This research is dedicated into researching in regards of Kubrick’s auteur achievements and also assists readers in detecting and understanding the subtle meanings that are implied within his two films, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining. At the same time, we explore the materials and their results of how Kubrick is indeed an auteur and the presentation of consistent style that is found in his films.
